How to eat an elephant ๐Ÿ˜
One bite at a time.

Don't know where to start? One small step at a time. Shipping to learn is the best way to approach it.

Lessons from the frontline
๐Ÿšข
Ship to learn Try something out with no expectations and see what happens. You'll be surprised how much you learn.
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ
Block the time Put a rock on your calendar to prioritize the time. An hour a week compounds fast.
๐Ÿ“ธ
Screenshot when stuck When stuck, drop a screenshot into Claude and ask "help unblock me" or "what do I do next?" Works a charm.
๐Ÿ“
More context = less rework The more context you put in up front, the better the output. Examples of what you want to see are particularly useful.
๐Ÿ‘€
Watch what others build Follow builders on X, watch YouTube demos, ask peers. Learn from what others are doing.
๐Ÿ”—
Each step is a gateway Chat โ†’ Skill โ†’ Project โ†’ Scheduled Task. Every step opens the next one. Trust me โ€” you'll feel it when it clicks.
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ
The habit that makes it stick
Block your Frid-AI time.
Try to dedicate an hour a week, put a rock on your calendar โ€” I started with Fridays (Frid-AI time) โ€” to just start playing. No agenda, no deliverable. Just exploration. An hour a week compounds faster than you think. Each time you'll learn something new which unlocks new ideas.

Getting started with Claude
Step 01
๐Ÿ’ฌ
Start with chat
Just ask. Don't overthink the prompt โ€” the only goal of step one is to get a single win.
Ask Claude to ask you questions before it starts. The output will be better.
Step 02
๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ
Download CoWork
Once you've had a win in chat, get the desktop app. This is where Claude goes from helpful to genuinely powerful.
claude.ai/download ยท Get Claude Pro to unlock it.
Step 03
๐Ÿ”Œ
Connect your tools
Connect email, calendar, Drive, and Slack. This is what transforms Claude from a chatbot into something that actually knows your world.
Settings โ†’ Connectors. Takes 2 minutes. Changes everything.
Step 04
๐ŸŒ
Add the Chrome Extension
Use Claude directly on any webpage โ€” no tab switching. Research, summarise, extract, and cross-reference on the fly.
Great for research, analysis, and pulling data from PDFs.
Claude level up โ€” when you're ready

These aren't required steps โ€” they're gateways. Each one unlocks a new level of what Claude can do for you. Come back to them once you've built a habit with the basics.

Gateway A
๐Ÿงฉ
Use Skills
Pre-built modes for things you do repeatedly. Set it up once โ€” meeting prep, email drafts, slide decks โ€” and Claude runs it on demand, every time.
Skills = how Claude behaves. Type "/" in CoWork to browse.
Gateway B
๐Ÿ“
Create Projects
Persistent memory and shared context โ€” no re-explaining every session. Keeps Claude focused on that topic only so answers stay relevant and don't drift. Invite teammates in and it becomes a living workspace.
Projects = what Claude remembers. Like a Drive folder Claude has read cover to cover.
Gateway C
โฐ
Scheduled Tasks
The graduation step. Automate recurring work โ€” morning briefings, data pulls, Slack digests โ€” so it lands in your inbox without lifting a finger.
Start simple: a morning email with your meetings and prep context.

Other products worth
knowing about.

Claude is an easy home base. But depending on what you're building, these products are worth trying on too.

Pro tip
Don't have raw data to play with?
Just ask Claude to build you a dummy dataset. Tell it what fields you need, how many rows, and what it's for โ€” it'll generate a realistic file you can use to test any data heavy use case straight away.

Learn from people
already building.

Here are some personal favorites open sourcing as they build on X, YouTube, and other social media platforms.

Real things real people built.

These were all built by real people, in HR use cases, with no coding background โ€” starting from zero. This is your proof of concept.

Your challenge
What are you going to
build this week?

Start with one thing. One task that's been sitting on your list. Give it to Claude and see what happens. Below are prompts to get started.

Steal these.
They work.

Copy, fill in the brackets, and go. High-leverage prompts worth having in your back pocket.

๐Ÿ”Ž
Find my biggest time sinks and automate them
Efficiency Audit ยท Requires Calendar + Gmail access
โŒ„

Give Claude access to your calendar and email history, then ask it to surface the highest-leverage wins. Great starting point if you're not sure where to begin.

Template โ€” copy and fill in
I am a [your role โ€” e.g. VP People / HR Business Partner / Talent Lead]. Please look at my last 500 emails and my last 4 weeks of calendar. I want you to identify 2โ€“3 high-leverage areas where we can automate, delegate, or significantly reduce the time I spend. For each one: name the pattern you spotted, estimate the time it's costing me, and suggest a specific way Claude could help.
๐Ÿ’ก Works best inside a Claude Project with Calendar + Gmail connected.
๐Ÿ—๏ธ
Help me design a solution from scratch
Build Something New ยท Claude asks before building
โŒ„

When you have a problem but not a solution yet. Claude asks clarifying questions before jumping in โ€” which means you end up with something that actually fits.

Template โ€” copy and fill in
I want to build [describe what you want โ€” e.g. an onboarding program / a manager calibration process / a recruiting scorecard] to solve [the actual problem โ€” e.g. inconsistent new hire experiences / managers avoiding hard conversations]. Before you start, ask me 5โ€“7 questions to fully understand the context, constraints, and what success looks like. Once you have enough, build the solution with me.
๐Ÿ’ก The key is asking Claude to ask YOU questions first โ€” forces it to understand before solving.
๐Ÿค–
Help me spec and build an AI agent
Agent Design ยท Turns rough idea into a full spec
โŒ„

For when you want to build something more sophisticated โ€” a recurring workflow, an automated brief, a custom assistant. This turns your rough idea into a full spec.

Template โ€” copy and fill in
I want to build an AI agent. My goal: [what you want it to do โ€” e.g. "prepare a meeting brief every morning by checking my calendar and researching external attendees"] The user will ask things like: [5 realistic examples โ€” e.g. "What's on today?", "Who am I meeting externally?"] The agent should have access to: [e.g. web search / Gmail / Google Calendar] It must always: [non-negotiables โ€” e.g. "summarise in under 300 words", "flag external meetings separately"] It must never: [hard limits โ€” e.g. "share personal employee data", "make commitments on my behalf"] Please turn this into: 1. A clear agent spec 2. A system prompt I can use 3. A tool list 4. A first version roadmap 5. 10 test cases to validate it's working
๐ŸŽฏ
Pressure-test my People strategy
HR Strategy ยท Claude as your senior advisor
โŒ„

Use Claude as a thinking partner before a board prep, leadership offsite, or big People initiative. Faster and more candid than most internal feedback.

Template โ€” copy and fill in
Act as a senior People advisor with experience scaling HR functions at high-growth tech companies. I'm going to share our People strategy for [year/initiative]. I want you to: 1. Summarise what you think we're actually prioritising 2. Identify the 2โ€“3 biggest risks or gaps 3. Flag any assumptions that might not hold 4. Suggest one thing we haven't thought of that's worth considering Here's the strategy: [paste or describe]
๐Ÿ“ˆ
What are best-in-class companies doing on X?
Benchmark Research ยท Skip hours of manual searching
โŒ„

Skip the hours of research. Claude can synthesise what leading companies do on almost any HR topic โ€” and apply it to your context.

Template โ€” copy and fill in
Research what best-in-class companies at [stage โ€” e.g. Series B / 200โ€“500 employees / enterprise] do around [topic โ€” e.g. manager development / promotion criteria / onboarding for senior hires]. Give me: 1. 3โ€“5 things the best companies do differently 2. The most common mistakes 3. A recommendation for what we should adopt given we're [brief description โ€” e.g. a 150-person cybersecurity company scaling from 3 to 5 offices]

Useful phrases
mid-conversation.

Drop these in whenever you need to steer Claude. No new prompt required.

โญ
The single best prompt habit
"Ask me questions along the way"
Add this to any prompt. It tells Claude to pause and check in before assuming โ€” which means less rework, better output, and a result that actually fits your situation. The difference between a generic answer and exactly what you needed.
"Be more concise"
Shorten any response. "Cut this by half" or "Key points only" also work.
"More formal / casual"
Adjust tone mid-conversation. "Make this less corporate" or "More professional."
"Give me options"
Ask for multiple versions. "Write 3 subject line options" or "Two versions: soft and direct."
"What am I missing?"
Great for stress-testing. Claude surfaces gaps โ€” missing context, unclear expectations, legal risks.
"Explain this simply"
If you get a complex response: "Plain English please" or "Give me the TL;DR."
"Read this asโ€ฆ"
Perspective-taking. "โ€ฆas a new manager" or "โ€ฆas a nervous employee." Forces a different lens.
"Flag the risks"
"What are the potential downsides?" โ€” especially useful before making an HR decision.
"Help unblock me"
Screenshot whatever you're stuck on and drop it in. Ask "what do I do next?" Works every time.
